What Fuels My Day
A little insight into my morning routine and the simple habits that help me feel my best.
I believe that how we start our morning can influence how we feel throughout the day. As a qualified nutritionist and health coach, I've learned that good nutrition doesn't have to be complicated. Often, it's the small things we do consistently that make the biggest difference.
Over time, I've developed a morning routine that works for me, and I thought I'd share a little of it with you.
Starting My Day with Lemon & Ginger
One of the first things I do each morning is prepare a glass of water with fresh lemon and slices of ginger.
It's a simple ritual that I enjoy. It helps me start the day hydrated and gives me a moment to ease into my morning.
My tip: If you struggle to drink enough water, try adding fresh lemon, cucumber or mint for flavour. The important thing is finding something you enjoy and can maintain.
My Morning Green Tea
I also enjoy a couple of cups of green tea in the morning.
For me, it's become part of my daily routine, and I love taking a few moments to enjoy it before the day gets busy.
Green tea contains naturally occurring plant compounds called polyphenols, which are being studied for their potential health benefits.
My tip: Small changes, such as replacing an occasional sugary drink with unsweetened tea or water, can be a simple way to improve your everyday habits.

A Nourishing, Protein-Rich Breakfast
Breakfast is something I pay particular attention to.
One of my favourites is a homemade porridge made with a small amount of oats, chia seeds, hemp seeds, protein powder and berries.
I enjoy this combination because it provides protein, fibre and healthy fats. It also helps me build a satisfying breakfast that suits my needs.
On other mornings, I might choose eggs or Greek yoghurt, depending on what I feel like eating.
My tip: Think about including a source of protein and fibre at breakfast. For example, Greek yoghurt with berries and seeds, eggs with wholegrain toast, or porridge with chia seeds.
There's no single perfect breakfast. It's about finding what suits your body, appetite and lifestyle.
Moving My Body
Another important part of my routine is movement.
Whether it's a walk, Pilates or strength training at the gym, I've come to appreciate how regular movement supports my strength, mobility and overall wellbeing.
I've noticed that staying active helps me feel stronger and more energetic. It's not about pushing myself every day, but about finding movement I enjoy and making it part of my routine.
My tip: Find an activity you genuinely enjoy, whether that's walking, dancing, Pilates or strength training. Start small and build consistency over time. Every bit of movement counts.
Small Habits, Lasting Changes
For me, feeling healthier isn't about following a perfect routine. It's about making small, positive choices consistently and listening to what my body needs.
As a nutritionist and health coach, I believe that good nutrition and a balanced lifestyle should fit into your life, rather than the other way around.
I hope sharing a little of my morning routine inspires you to find simple habits that work for you.
Remember, small changes can make a big difference.
